A Unique Event: Inter-Unit Meet the Candidates Forum
All eyes and ears were on the BOE candidates at the highly anticipated and well attended first Inter-Unit Meet the Candidates Forum. With retired Twin Towers Principal Mr. Gordon Dean moderating, the community saw first hand what leadership should look like. This wasn’t just a Q&A session; it was the culmination of a year where district employees wanted to send a clear, resounding message: We are stakeholders, we are partners, and our voices matter.
The takeaway from Caraballo, Williams, and Randolph’s answers is that they consistently remained true to their platform of integrity in leadership and excellence in education. The first job is to restore stability and transparency to the board by ensuring that proper governance is followed. Restoring this paves the way for a better partnership with the administration during what may be a challenging time for future school budgets. This will then help in assuring fiscal stability that may protect the programs that took decades to grow and have proven to result in positive student experiences. Finally, they know how important it is to support a safe and healthy environment for the educators and staff who are there for our children every day. These candidates understand that honest dialogue isn't a one-way street; it requires the humility to step back, hear the concerns of the frontline staff, and act with intention.
They are proudly endorsed by 1199 SEIU and CSEA and are supported and powered by a tireless group of volunteers and neighbors. Their campaign is a testament to the message that our collective community matters more than special interests. Deymiss Caraballo, Freddie Williams, and Terry Randolph proved they aren't just ready to serve; they are ready to lead.
On May 19, we have a choice. We can return to the chaos of the status quo, or we can elect trustees who will prioritize transparency, safety, and accountability every single day of their term and not just at election time. The future of our district is in your hands. Let’s bring integrity back to the Board.

Their different life experiences pours into their approach to making decisions and actions which they will use as board trustees.
